Helen Wilde and Terry Sole opened ONE NEW STREET in November 2014 as an Art Gallery with a painting studio, printing facilities for etching and lino printing and a workshop for constructing sculptural pieces and frames.
To date there have been several group exhibitions featuring artists from Europe and America (see our list of artists for details)
We also showcase jewellery by Hanka Andrews a German designer based in the Cotswolds and
Cherry Tewfik a Canterbury ceramicist.
ONE NEW STREET has been a renovation project for Helen and Terry assisted by family, friends and locally sourced labour.
With special thanks to Rob (Helen’s brother) Hanka (his wife)
Tara, Torin, Peter and Bob.
These premises started life as a butchers shop in Victorian times and have been many things since. It was a fantastic discovery that the original shop face tiles were intact under many layers of paint.
Where possible original features of the premises have been preserved,
restored and retained.
The gallery and workshops are now established and a must to visit at least monthly if you are interested in art, in any of its forms and applications.
Some of the works are for sale.
Opening times are Friday and Saturday for 10 am until 5pm (or later)
and by appointment any other day.
